At Barking Squirrel Media, we are experts in producing manufacturing videos and produce them worldwide. The video needs of manufacturing are unique and the techniques for capturing people, processes and products require a meticulous procedure so that manufacturing lines are not interfered with or delayed.
How to Make Manufacturing Information Engaging
Sometimes manufacturing videos need to relay crucial information to other companies in order to serve the needs of their clients as well as promoting their own processes and products. In the corporate manufacturing video above, our client, Celanese, needed Barking Squirrel Media to produce a tutorial video that explains how to use a new app called Chemille. Our challenge was to create a concept that teaches people how to use the app while also making it visually engaging and entertaining. In so doing, we elevated the typical tutorial video to the excellence of a brand film.
Why to Hire Talent for Manufacturing Videos
We determined that the tutorial manufacturing video should utilize professional talent to tell the Chemille story so that we humanize the AI technology that the film will be showcasing. The Celanese brand film begins with Layla, a female coworker popping her head into a male coworker’s office to discover he was struggling with the very problem that the Chemille app was designed to solve.
What Talent Accomplishes in Manufacturing Videos
This setup gave us the opportunity to place Layla beside her coworker so that we might visually demonstrate on his laptop how the app works. As Layla explains the Chemille process, we were then able to pivot to screen recordings of the app in use. The last thing we wanted was to demonstrate the functionality of Chemille with only screen recordings. Such videos are not compelling and we loose the audience’s attention. Starting this tutorial video with visual storytelling created a friendly, relational environment in which to convey important information.
Talent Keeps Manufacturing Information Interesting
During the central portion of the tutorial brand video, we placed Layla in her office with her laptop in front of her. In so doing, we could alternate between shots of Layla on camera to screen recordings of the app being utilized. The goal was always twofold: visually engaging the audience while relaying critical information. At Barking Squirrel Media, we are experts at bringing dull facts and figures to vibrant life through the creative concepts of video production. This is particularly important when producing manufacturing videos where technical information dominates screen time.
The Role of Art Direction in Manufacturing Videos
A quintessential visual component of any engaging manufacturing video is art direction and set design. Our creative director, Christine Marque, is extraordinarily gifted in taking an uninspiring location and turning it into a beautifully furnished and decorated space. There is nothing on her set that is by accident. She takes great care in designing the right color schemes for each scene, featuring brand colors when possible while at the same time making the location visually engaging.
Why the Expertise of a Director of Photography Is Crucial
Dan Marque, our Director of Photography, brilliantly designed optimal camera angles and cinematic lighting that immediately draws the viewing audience into the Celanese storyline. This brand video was filmed on the new RED V-Rapture 8K Cinema Camera. Though Dan films on numerous cinema cameras, he loves utilizing the RED for higher end brand films. The 8K high resolution image is stunning when paired with a sharp lens like the Zeiss Primes for an extra crisp and clean look. The dynamic range of the sensor allows us to see what’s happening beyond the walls of the room and into the city behind even in the bright sunlight. The sensor technology allows for brilliant colors that pop off the screen
We at Barking Squirrel Media love telling the stories of our manufacturing clients. Though it is beyond the scope of this article to expound upon the numerous layers of detail in each of the stages of of producing manufacturing videos, suffice it to say that we bring as much Hollywood magic as possible to each film.
